Introducing Mālama
Mālama Energy was founded to deploy and operate a
distributed network of modular edge datacenters powered
by the destruction of waste methane, specifically
designed to meet the exploding demand of new computing models.
Matching Profit With Purpose
Mālama’s solution offers three compelling benefits:
-
Lowering the amount of methane released into the air, since methane is a powerful gas that traps heat—over 80 times more than carbon dioxide in the short term.
-
Mālama Energy combines sustainable methane destruction with off‑grid, portable computing. Their carbon‑neutral micro‑data centers offer a low‑cost, scalable, and environmentally responsible alternative to traditional cloud infrastructure—making them ideal for AI, edge computing, remote micro‑grids, and greenhouse gas mitigation.
-
Mālama Energy monetizes waste methane by transforming a harmful greenhouse gas into valuable energy and services—creating a win-win for the environment and their partners.
The Problem
New computing models have created an explosion in demand for data center capacity, driving vacancy rates to historic lows, while increasing hosting costs. This demand is projected to increase at ~20% CAGR at least through 2030, with a lack of available energy, environmental concerns and aging energy infrastructure constraining the industry’s ability to meet this demand. Given the strategic importance of AI and new digital solutions, a failure to meet this demand will have profound effects on the entire computing industry.
Our Solution
The Mālama Off-Grid Network
Mālama will offer the computing industry a new source of clean,
low-cost hosting capacity that does not rely on
local power grids, aging digital infrastructure or additional
carbon dioxide emissions.
We achieve this by partnering with oil and gas producers
to capture their waste methane and convert it into net-
zero electricity, to power our intelligent network of off-grid
modular data centers.
Our solution provides much needed datacenter capacity,
reduces greenhouse gas emissions, while delivering an
attractive economic return.
The Impact
Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, 80 times more powerful at trapping heat in our atmosphere when compared to carbon dioxide.
Mālama will initially focus on partnering with oil producers in North America, eventually expanding to international markets such as the LATAM and MENA regions.
Over the next 36 months, Mālama has plans to mitigate approximately 1,000,000 metric tons of CO2e, or the equivalent of removing 350,000 automobiles from the road, or planting 90,000 acres of forest.
